Barcelona, February 14, 2025 – Fragrance house Eurofragance unveiled today the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for next year. As of January 1, 2026, Joan Pere Jiménez, currently Chief Market Officer, will assume the position of CEO. Laurent Mercier, who has held the position since 2018, will continue to lead the company until December 31, 2025 and will assume a new role on the Board of Directors starting in 2026.
In this new phase, Jiménez will take over from Mercier to continue the implementation of the strategic plan underway and strengthen Eurofragance’s global growth.
This succession process, planned since 2023, will run throughout 2025 to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibilities and continuity of the company’s strategic vision.
A leadership that has transformed Eurofragance
Since joining Eurofragance in 2013, Laurent Mercier has held positions of top executive responsibility, first as Global Business Director and from 2018 onwards, as CEO, succeeding Chairman and Founder, Santiago Sabatés.
Under his leadership, Eurofragance has undergone a profound transformation that has consolidated it as a global company and a benchmark in the fragrance industry, continuously achieving annual growth of over 20% since 2021, and delivering double-digit profitability. During these years, Mercier drove sustainability and fostered investments in innovation, which led to the development of the multinational’s first proprietary ingredients for the creation of exclusive fragrances.
“Leading Eurofragance through this exciting period of growth and transformation has been a true honor. I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering commitment of our teams and the trust they placed in me on this journey. Joan Pere has been a pivotal part of our history, and I have no doubt that, with his vision and leadership, the company will continue to thrive,” states Mercier.
An internal candidate with knowledge and experience
Joan Pere Jiménez has been with Eurofragance for over ten years. He joined the company as Chief Operations Officer and has held various positions of responsibility within the Management Committee, including General Manager for the Europe, Africa and Turkey region through 2021, and later on for the Asia Pacific region until the end of 2023. Since January 2024, he has held the position of Chief Market Officer, a role he will retain until the end of 2025.
“I approach this new challenge with great enthusiasm and responsibility. I am grateful for the trust the Board of Directors, the founding family members and the Management Team have placed in me. During the remainder of this year, I will continue to work with Laurent to ensure an orderly transition and carry the vision that has brought us this far, focusing on excellent service, innovation, a firm commitment to sustainability and a people-focused model,” Jiménez emphasizes.
A planned transition aligned with the company’s strategy
The founding family members, the Board of Directors and the current Management Team are confident that Joan Pere Jiménez, who has an in-depth knowledge of the company and its strategic direction, will guarantee the continuity of the company’s vision and culture.
Santiago Sabatés, Charmain and Founder of Eurofragance, states: “We are particularly pleased that the transition is being made with a person from within the company, who knows Eurofragance perfectly well and whose contribution has been decisive for delivering the results and achievements that were attained during Laurent’s tenure.”
With this change of leadership, the company reaffirms its commitment to leadership based on its purpose and values, ensuring the continuity of its global vision and its commitment to excellence.
