It takes admirable ingredients to create admirable fragrances

Perfumery ingredients, also known as raw materials, are the building blocks of all fragrances.  On average, there are about 40 ingredients that enter into a typical fragrance formula, but some compositions can count up to one hundred.  The Eurofragance palette, or collection of ingredients, is made up of synthetic and natural raw materials that we source from around the world.  For historical reasons, however, we are particularly strong in ingredients favored in Middle Eastern perfumery.  Many of these come from the Indian subcontinent.  In addition to sourcing from suppliers, over the past five years, we have begun to develop our own proprietary ingredients, giving our Perfumers an additional creative edge.  Presented under Eurofragance Selections, our choice of ingredients reflects the care we put into composing and developing the best possible palette for our creation teams.

Lime

“Lime oil has an intense aroma that evokes nature with its vibrant citrus scent; it’s refreshing, invigorating and brings a welcome touch of freshness to fragrances.  Its subtle nuances harmonize with floral notes such as neroli and adds vitality and naturalness to citrus compositions.”

Cardamom

“Cardamom is natural and fresh, and immediately conveys elegance.  It is both a cool and warm spice, a surprising duality that works well in Middle Eastern compositions, but also in western fine fragrances.  It’s a good match with woody, citrus, ambery notes and other spices.”

Styrax

“Styrax is a puzzle of contrasting notes, ranging from sweet balsamic, cinnamon, with hints of vanilla to mystical, resinous wood notes.  Combined with different florals, Styrax gains depth, spiciness or sensuality.  Styrax adds an ambery character to fragrances, imparting confidence to those wearing it.”

Tonka

“With creamy vanilla, almond and tobacco notes, Tonka brings warmth and depth to a fragrance.  It’s key in classic fougere accords, but so contemporary too, as it’s perfectly aligned with the gourmand, addictive trend. For me, it evokes sensuality, desire and a feeling of comfort.”

Cistus Oil

“Cistus Oil delivers rich, warm, aromatic balsamic notes.  Some hints of pine, amber or honey can also be present.  It gives vibrancy and warmth to top notes; because of its intensity, only a trace of it can modify an entire fragrance.”

Myrrh

“Myrrh is subtle, discreet and never exuberant, which brings mystery and elegance to compositions.  Myrrh Resinoid allows for contrasts.  Its licorice, balsamic, humus and celery notes, convey heat and coolness, sweet and salty, dry and humid, depending on the olfactive context.”

Rose Damascena

“Rooted in centuries of tradition, Rose Damascena waltzes through time and cultures.  Intemporal rather than trend-driven, it remains a universal floral icon of perfumery—instantly recognizable, it resonates with consumers across the world.  Just a few grams of Rose Damascena give volume to my fragrances and an unmistakable sillage.”

Pink Lotus

“Lotus flower is just magical.  It has sweet, delicate lactonic facets evoking inner peace, offering soothing and stimulating properties.  A soft, velvety and spicy aspect is also present.  I like to harmonize it with floral notes of rose and jasmine, with woody notes like sandalwood, or with the freshness of bergamot and aquatic notes.”

Pink Pepper

“There is something immaculate, or perfectly balanced, about Pink Pepper.  It’s almost citrusy, yet spicy and incense-like.  In combination with dry woods, such as cedarwood, it sparkles; with incense, it beams!  Pink Pepper’s brightness and zest bring my fragrance compositions to life.”

Agarwood

“It’s the complexity and the multifaceted character of this versatile ingredient that allows it to enrich, for instance, woody, leathery, balsamic, smoky compositions. Agarwood gives a Middle Eastern character to fragrance creations with great contemporary, unisex appeal. It’s simply magical.”

Proprietary perfumery ingredients

In 2018, we kicked-off our very own ingredient program. The team of Scientists and Perfumers was tasked with developing, branding and launching captives, also known as proprietary perfumery ingredients. To date, we have introduced four captives of natural and synthetic nature. These exclusive ingredients enrich our palette and open new creative venues for our creation teams. Our captives program is a testament to our innovative mindset and our desire to stay ahead of our competitors.
