Olivante®
Fine-tune the opulence of your fragrance

Olivante® is an upcycled material made from discarded olive pulp following the extraction of the fruit’s oil.  For the development of this product, we looked to transform waste material into a desirable perfumery ingredient.  The result is a new captive made through 100% natural upcycling processes which allowed our R&D Scientists to identify and isolate the compounds in the material with the most promising olfactive characteristics.  Olivante® is made from olives from a specific geographical region, where it has benefited from certain climactic conditions.  Origin and terroir matter, and Olivante® is made from olives that answer to such parameters.

Key selling points of Olivante® that matter to consumers and manufacturers

A more opulent fragrance experience

Olivante® allows your consumers to enjoy a new kind of richness in their perfumes.  Notes of plum, apricot and blackcurrant become even more fruity with Olivante®; gourmand notes become more delectable and delightful; and leathery notes gain more depth—and dare we say it, more sensuality too.  Opulence is one of the characteristics of Middle Eastern perfumery, but mukhallat-type creations have now gained in popularity in markets well beyond the Gulf Region.  Olivante® can appeal to consumers from India to Western Europe, via, of course, the Middle East.

A powerful narrative

Two thousand years ago, the Phoenicians began spreading the olive tree from the Levant westward across the Mediterranean to eventually reach Spain, where the Romans perfected its cultivation and production.  From this iconic fruit, that has connected people and cultures, we have developed a raw material with exceptional olfactive characteristics. Olivante® is one of these rare perfumery raw materials that can bridge cultures, and today, this bridge extends all the way back to its origins, the Middle East.

A perfect green record for perfect green fruit

Olivante® is the perfect illustration of how it is possible to upcycle discarded residue into a stunning perfumery raw material.  It must be underlined that Olivante® truly has a stellar sustainability track record, it is made through 100% natural, upcycling processes from a plentiful and replenishable resource.  This is our third proprietary perfumery raw material made from upcycling waste material, and at Eurofragance, we have developed quite an expertise in this area.

Our Scientists speak up on Olivante®

“Olivante® is a fragrance ingredient that finds its place in both Western and Middle Eastern compositions; it has an appeal across a broad target.  For me, this new captive, offers a multi-facetted profile that includes woody, floral, fruity phenolic notes, reminding me of the complexity of osmanthus.  Olivante® allows us to have a playful approach when designing fragrances.”

Our Scientists speak up on Verdenix®

“Olivante® gives body and structure to my fragrance creations.  It imparts a warm animalic aspect to compositions, which offers a welcome ‘natural’ alternative to our traditional animal-based perfumery ingredients.  I have also used it successfully to enhance floral bouquets and dark chocolate notes.”

“Olivante® reminds me of uncorking a fine bottle of Bordeaux with its dried fruits, floral and leathery notes.  But because it is entirely plant-based, Olivante® is, in fact, a trompe l’oeil of leather.  I also see Olivante® as a filler ingredient able to enrich other raw materials in the composition, giving them more naturality and opulence.”

“In the world of perfumery raw materials, I have always had a soft spot for animalic notes.  To my nose, Olivante®, with its phenolic, slightly oudy character completes this animal-inspired palette.  Its ability to push leathery notes is particularly interesting in Middle Eastern perfume creations, but I wouldn’t say that it is reserved for that market.”

“It’s no surprise that Olivante® reminds me of olives; what’s more unusual, however, is its castoreum aspect.  But this is a clean, fresh animalic scent that I can easily blend with a range of ingredients.  It combines nicely with tagetes or tuberose, with woods and citruses, and it can even accompany watery notes of calone and sea salt.”

“I used Olivante® in a creation intended for Malaysia where Arabic type fragrances are appreciated with gentler animalic notes.  Through careful dosing and the inclusion of certain ingredients such as sandalwood, I was able to create a composition with aspects of dates and dried fruit.  Overall, the fragrance smelled warm with a welcome thickness to it.”
