Barcelona, March 19, 2024 – Spanish fragrance house Eurofragance, has launched ICON, a new strategy to build a palette of ingredients to enhance the quality and sustainability of its fragrances. ICON, an acronym that stands for “innovation,” “commitment,” “origin” and “nature,” aims to develop an exclusive palette of high quality and sustainable raw materials that enable perfumers to fully express their creativity.
A palette of aspirational ingredients to create iconic fragrances
ICON is a strategic program strives to select or to develop admirable perfumery ingredients to create exclusive fragrances. It allows Eurofragance to draw attention to some important and precious raw materials in their extensive perfumery palette. After a meticulous selection process, which evaluates the olfactory properties of an ingredient, its sustainability values, along with its health and safety profile, only then can that raw material be considered part of the ICON collections.
Currently, we distinguish seven collections classified into naturals, captives or proprietary ingredients and headspaces, a technique to faithfully render the smell of a plant, object or place. These collections include captives such as L’Âme du Bois®, a proprietary ingredient used in premium fragrances.
ICON offers an innovative vision of the raw materials used in perfumery and presents the most emblematic ones according to their characteristics, origin and sustainability values. This is a program that represents a true commitment to conscious perfumery.
A collection of ingredients focused on sustainable innovation
For an ingredient to be considered sustainable and become part of ICON’s collections, it must meet one or more sustainability values, such as being environment friendly, ethically sourced, biodegradable, renewable, upcycled or be a high-performance ingredient. These requirements demand meticulous work on the part of its suppliers, who are committed to applying ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria in their governance policies.
ICON reflects the sustainability philosophy of Eurofragance. The company ensures that all processes along its value chain, from the supplier to customer, are aligned with business ethics. Accordingly, the fragrance house requires that its suppliers adhere to the Eurofragance Code Ethics and Behavior.
With this program, Eurofragance goes a step further in its understanding of sustainability as an essential axis for the company, also present in the selection of its suppliers. A philosophy that characterizes its activities from start to finish and enables it to approach all projects based on ESG criteria.
