Barcelona, April 20, 2023 – Eurofragance, the Spanish multinational, headquartered in Barcelona has been awarded an EcoVadis Gold Medal in recognition for its sustainability efforts.  Since receiving an EcoVadis Silver Medal in 2019, the fragrance manufacturer has accelerated its push towards greater sustainability.  The company’s local and international efforts and ensuing positive results are published in the fragrance house’s annual Sustainability Report.

Encouraged by results and recognition, Eurofragance aims even higher

The multinational, which was evaluated by the recognized sustainability rating provider EcoVadis in the cleaning, detergents and perfumes segment, obtained a sustainability rating of 77 points out of 100.  In particular, compared to other companies in its sector and rated by the certifying platform, Eurofragance scored well above average in areas pertaining to the “environment” and “labor & human rights.” Nevertheless, Eurofragance also addressed all three key pillars of sustainable development.

Diana March, Global Director of Sustainability and Technical Compliance at Eurofragance, admits that it’s nice to be recognized for one’s efforts, and says: “Virtually every employee at Eurofragance has embraced the drive towards greater sustainability, and this EcoVadis Gold Medal rewards the hard work and dedication of each one of them.  It also emboldens us to aim even higher and to push forwards.”  March goes on to mention that with close to 400 employees, spread between seven affiliates around the world, there are always several sustainability projects going on each site.

Eurofragance’s ICON Program spreads its wings across the globe

In late 2022, Eurofragance introduced its ICON Program dedicated to further improving the quality and sustainability record of the raw materials it acquires to create fragrances with.  Via this extensive program, Eurofragance encourages all of its suppliers to produce and market ingredients that have verified sustainability values (e.g., environment friendly, ethically sourced, biodegradable…).

Regarding the ICON Program, Diana March says: “Our sustainability slogan is ‘making scents, caring for people and planet’ and I definitely think that we are on the right track, but it’s important to get as many people on board as possible.  I feel that ICON does exactly this.  Together we will shape a sustainable future.”
