ICON Ingredients
Osmanthus Abs.
Our osmanthus absolute comes from the Guangxi province in China near a town named Guillin, which means “osmanthus forest.” Osmanthus flowers are collected by local farmers on their family plantations; the blossoms are then kept in a brine for up to two months to preserve their surprising fruity, animalic olfactive properties.
Magnolia Flowers Oil
This ornamental tree of hybrid origin produces buds that, in China, are used in flowering tea preparations, and full blossoms destined to be distilled for the perfumery industry. Both are picked by farmers from human-sized trees cultivated in orchards; for local villagers, yulan (white magnolia) represents a welcome source of revenue.
Agarwood Oil
Thanks to a parasite, aquilaria trees produce a resin that yields one of perfumery’s treasures, agar. Once turned into oil, this ingredient gives a magnificent Middle Eastern character to fragrance compositions. Because protecting this natural resource is paramount, we work with an on-site partner in Laos who ensures these trees are respectfully cultivated.
Davana Oil
In the southwestern region of India, in Karnataka, plants of the artemisia family produce davana oil, a precious raw material with mouth-watering perfumistic characteristics. Its cultivation benefits directly local farmers, as their association sets the price of their crops and they are paid upon delivery of the raw material.
Pepper Sichuan Abs. CO2
Despite its name, this spice doesn’t belong to the pepper category, but to the citrus family. This helps explain the notable citrus notes that our carefully crafted extract gives out. The berries of this plant are cultivated and harvested in traditional fashion, but then undergo a high-tech extraction process that is perfectly ecofriendly.
