We are in the final stretch of 2019, so it is time that we share with you the trends in the world of perfumery for 2020: which ingredients will predominate, the perfume styles and must-known facts about sustainability.
So where are we now, as we look forward to 2020?
In the last year, there has been a rise of individualism, meaning that no one wants to smell like someone else. It is very common among the cosmetics industry to offer personalized products, but, nowadays, we can see more and more perfume brands that are starting to sell customized fragrances.
On the other hand, there has been a complete blurring of boundaries when it comes to gender. Today’s “unisex” is about arbitrary nature of gender divisions in fragrance. Notes should not be gendered in the first place, neither as masculine nor feminine. For instance, when looking at the last decade’s perfumes, it is possible to find many male fragrances which include rose or other floral notes. Also, the warm and eccentric sandalwood, which was historically associated with male fragrances, now impacts the feminine perfumery.
This leads us to the key ingredients for 2020…
The world perfumery trends for the year 2020 show a connection with nature, the search for authenticity and the exploration of sensory pleasures.
Regarding the scents for next year, the trend will be woody scents, the Fougére family will return with some touches of modernity proposed by the dry amber from the fern. However, the protagonist will be the white flower– very feminine, sensual, powerful and captivating.
While fragrances themselves are becoming more globalized, it is more and more common to find oriental notes in occidental perfumery. For example, oud, an ingredient almost unknown in the west a few years ago, now marks the lasts fashion trends in perfumery.
And what about sustainability?
The trend that combines the natural, as well as sustainable in cosmetics and perfumery is consolidated. Ecological, chemical-free ingredients and sustainable formulations are the basis on which cosmetic innovation is currently based. In fact, fragrance houses are developing very strong global programs in sustainability.
This approach is not only a way to include natural ingredients among their perfumes, it also reduces other factors that can harm the environment – packaging- and health – anti-allergens synthetics ingredients.
This are only some predictions that will hold for next year, however, as the year progresses, we will see these trends more developed and some others that will appear. For now, in Eurofragance we want to send our greetings for this holiday season and for the new year 2020.
The same smell, the same bottle, the same size… we all have one perfume that we consider OUR perfume. The one we always wear to work, to meet our friends and the one we always have a bottle of in our cupboard. So, for how long have you been using it?
There are several reasons why women and men use the same fragrance for years, as it is not easy to select the fragrance with which you feel comfortable, attractive, happy, fresh, elegant with. So, once you have found “your signature essence”, it is difficult to change. Perhaps, you alternate it with others for special occasions, but there is always one of them that will always represent you.
However, as there are many people that stick to a perfume, they wear their entire lives, there are others that change their perfume as often as they change socks. For the most part it comes down to personal preference, but we want to mention some other factors to consider.
It is important for you to know that trying a new perfume does not mean leaving aside a brand that you love but opening the door to other fragrances that can accompany you on specific occasions.
Olfactory taste change, because smell is modified throughout our existence, and this evolution is completely linked to our affective life. On average, there is a change on the olfactory change every three years, and maybe, the perfume that excited you yesterday, today almost repels you.
Nevertheless, it is not always your taste that’s changed. Sometimes perfumer reformulate their scents by swapping out ingredients. Then, if your favorite perfume just doesn’t smell like it used to, maybe it’s time to try something else.
Smell is the only one of our senses that sends messages to a brain region that regulates the primitive pulsations of hunger, thirst, etc. That is why fragrances unconsciously affect all our emotional behavior. Life experiences, memories, the passage of time… they all produce an evolution in you. This evolution can be projected through a perfume as a means of communication. For this reason, your choice in perfume can change. Maybe now you feel more identified with a different perfume than when you were 10 years younger.
There are many elements with which you can strengthen your natural beauty. For example, fashion and makeup. But what about perfume? You should think of it as an accessory. A scent can send a message or create a mood. The simple gesture of putting a few drops of your favorite cologne can elevate your mood when you have a bad day.
The perfume industry is always evolving and producing new creations. That is, with new fragrances arising, you will sadly not be able to discover if you are always faithful to the same perfume. So, why not trying out new perfumes? Changing your perfume just to try something new isn’t a bad idea.
Choice a perfume that you feel comfortable with and makes you feel happy!

Trends in Fine Fragrance and Body Care
Eurofragance also presented in In-Cosmetics fair the latest creations of our expert perfumers. As for the Fine Fragrance segment, we announced 4 collections inspired in the latest trends: In Drinker Collection, concoctions and cocktails made their way into high-end perfumery. With White Magic Collection, White florals move from sunny territories toward sweet, oriental, balsamic lands. The Ethereal World Collection, Airy, delicate, magical, feminine floral scents make a stand as Peony leads the way. And in I wanna spice you up Collection, sexy fresh spices give a vibrant, different and young touch to the compositions.
In general, trends are moving toward lighter compositions and reinterpretations of classics, where some of the fragrances enter a new market by transcending the restrictions of masculine and feminine perfumery. In addition, the rise of millennials promotes the reinvention of classics and the increasing demand for lighter compositions. We see floral notes combined with oriental touches or spicy and youthful creations at the same time. Did you expect that?
In the Body Care segment as in other aspects of life, consumers seek more than ever products with natural ingredients and appearance. For this reason, at Eurofragance we propose the Back to the Roots, a collection of fragrances with botanical ingredients present in nature. There is also room for those daring people; for them, we bring new scents for applications such as Micellar Water, our scent smell fresh, musky and watery flowers. And for the most sentimental, our perfumers present Enhancing Emotions, fragrances that enrich emotions through their floral, tropical and fruity notes combined with citrus and sweet notes like vanilla applied to sensory textures.
But this has only just begun. We continue with the season of fairs and next week you can find us where “you must be” BeautyWorld Middle East, Dubai. We will keep you posted in our social networks and, soon, in a new blog post. Stay tuned!
We all know that walking into a wonderful-smelling room can immediately change your mood. What’s more, if the fragrance is based on plants’ essential oils, it can also be relaxing and banish stress. But that’s not all! Aromatherapy has been used throughout the centuries by many civilizations for therapeutic purposes, providing relief from a plethora of conditions. Some essences, like lavender and tea tree, have been scientifically proven to have a beneficial effect on health. If you suffer from insomnia, have a cold or need to switch off and unwind, Eurofragance can tell you which aromas are useful for treating the symptoms.
Aromatherapy: scents that improve well-being
Diffusing essential oils such as oregano, ginger and eucalyptus is a safe and minimally invasive method that strengthens the immune system and combating colds and respiratory problems. Other scents such as the lemon, grapefruit or peppermint can give you a shot of energy. In contrast, lavender, we mentioned above, is great for relieving anxiety, muscle problems and stress-related headaches. What’s more, just a couple of drops of this essence is enough to give you a restful night’s sleep. Ready to give it a try? Read on to find out how.
Well-being wherever you are with portable diffusers
Even if you don’t have time to go to a specialist aromatherapy centre, you can still benefit from this aromatherapy in the office, when you’re doing the housework, or at the gym or library. Fortunately, the aromatherapy market has expanded so much during the last two years that creating your own treatment is much simpler. All you need are some essential oils and a diffuser. But be warned! Choosing your diffuser and oils is not as easy as you might think, because you’ll want to try them all.
There are diffusers with different functions, some are programmable and there are even portable versions. You can even carry your diffuser with you in your handbag and create a different ambience according to your mood or your needs.
Some of these devices come built into humidifiers and air purifiers to keep your skin and throat hydrated. Others emit soft light and soothing sounds and come in avant-garde designs that fit perfectly with any type of decoration. But what they all have in common is that they release natural fragrances that make you feel good instantly. Who could ask for more? Take advantage of the enormous range of products and oils to make everywhere you go your favourite place!
Time really does fly! We are already in the final stretch of 2018, which seems to us like a good time to take stock and get ready for what 2019 has in store. Which were this year’s main trends in the world of perfume? Which were the most successful ingredients this year? And, most excitingly, what can we expect next season? In an earlier article, we talked about women’s perfumes, so, this time we’re going to look at what’s new in the men’s sector, and revisit unique combinations of chords that the creative team at Eurofragance has designed. Keep reading and discover what’s new for your skin.
Fragrances for men. From acidic freshness to exotic forests
As we said in a previous post, there is a booming trend: new citrus fruits. This family of trees produces unfamiliar fruits such as the chinotto, the kumquat and the grapefruit, which are now starting to appear in some highly original, innovative ways, giving a new twist to the classic fresh scents of bergamot, lemon and orange. How about if we combine them with ginger, jasmine or cyclamen? A total delight for men who are looking for a light, clean, elegant fragrance.
We have also seen a move towards more classic, fougère structures. A historical segment in men’s perfumery, a combination of lavender and rosemary with woody notes, modernised here with fresh green notes such as basil and black tea.
What’s more refreshing than the sea breeze? A breathe of fresh air that will remain when summer is no more than a memory. Salty, watery notes take on a masculine touch when combined with woody notes. Eurofragance also suggests mixtures of daring ingredients, such as the grey amber, which is still present in many fragrances because of its marked character and clean, floral marine nuances, which make it almost unique. Many perfumes in the market strengthen its structure with notes of moss and grey amber to create fragrances for studiously up-to-date men with enveloping bases. The perfumers at Eurofragance are well versed in this trend and are already revolutionising their creations with new, surprising marine notes. The power of the ocean in a bottle.
And if fresh trends emerge from water, more sensual trends are extracted from natural elements of the earth: spices, wood and resins. Spices like cinnamon, cardamom, peppers of all kinds or even anise can completely transform a structure with subtle nuances.
Exotic woods rarely found in perfumery are also very much in vogue. After the rise of Oudh, perfumers are experimenting with other woods unfamiliar to the general public. These are perfect for men who prefer to wear warm and mysterious scent, with chords inspired by ebony, mahogany or rosewood.
The latest trend has emerged from forests, richer and more natural. Resins and balsams, both exotic and captivating, imbue men’s fragrances with the richness of the orient. And it is this enigmatic touch that is responsible for the success of fragrances that include ingredients with spiritual connotations, like incense, myrrh and Tolu balsam. Along these lines, Eurofragance has created two compositions that combine balsams and woods with daring touches of pure cocoa and floral notes. Unique perfumes for men with personality.
Did you know about these trends? Are there any that you follow? In 2019, dare to innovate and select fragrances that truly reflect your character.
