Eurofragance unveils the story behind the new collection presented at Beautyworld Middle East 2018 in Dubai
Have you ever felt the nostalgia of traveling to imaginary lands? That is precisely the feeling that inspired Nomad Tales, our new fragrance collection finally revealed at Beautyworld Middle East 2018. Scents based on precious raw materials that will transport you to fantastic worlds. A collection that was one of the most awaited themes during the 23rd edition of the largest fair of cosmetics and fragrances in the Middle East.
Nomad Tales is truly a unique sensorial experience: Four adventures told by our four exclusive fragrances. Jasmine, oud, cardamom and shamama combined with the mystical forces of the 4 elements of Air, Water, Fire and Earth carry you on a journey to the faraway lands beyond imagination.
Four lands, four elements, four fragrances
Jasmineair: Impulsive and powerful just like air that comes in two forms: a hot sand storm that reshapes the golden sand dunes versus the oxygen that brings life into objects. A timeless and precious fragrance of Soizic Beaucourt.
Aquaoud: An unconventional evocative scent that reinvents the enigmatic oud… A contrasted harmony created by Olaf Larsen.
Cardamon’fire: The scent that burns with the heat of a thousand fires… Tempting and dangerous; passionate and seductive. This raw and carnal fragrance is the work of Belén García.
Shamamia!: The mystic attar captures the essence of the mother-earth; wise, nurturing, sacred and ever-evolving. A multi-faceted fragrance crafted by Julia Rodríguez.
Our perfumers, in collaboration with our excellent creative team, have designed a dreamlike map of distant lands unknown to date. Would you dare to visit them? Be careful, you might decide to stay!
We’ve done it again! The biggest international beauty and well-being event has been the launchpad for our most eagerly awaited collection: Cosmic Nomad. Set in a galactic atmosphere, surrounded by neon colours and in line with Eurofragrance’s adventurous nature, Nomad Cosmic was equally successful as Nomad Tales. And the first edition of Nomad Experience had set the bar very high!
In 2018, our fragrances swept everyone away to far-flung, imaginary lands based on four elements (Jasmineair, Aquaoud, Cardamon´fire and Shamamia), and this year’s creation is out of this world. The Cosmic Nomad collection tells the story of an epic voyage to far beyond the Milky Way in search of supernatural treasures from the stars. We gave our perfumers a multisensory mission to design five fragrances, each showcasing one of Eurofragance’s hallmark raw materials. Who would like to experience some stellar scents?
The Cosmic Nomad fragrance collection
Vetiver Asteroid: our perfumer Olaf Larsen created a perfume based on eternal scents. A composition with woody notes combined with fresh bergamot and lively pink pepper. With a sensual heart note of oud enveloped in floral jasmine and predominant notes of vetiver, this fragrance gets depth from creamy sandalwood and sensual ambergris.
Illuminating Rose: Soizic Beaucourt is the talent behind Illuminating Rose, a fragrance as rich and intoxicating as nature itself. The scent of rose is a gateway to a marvellous galaxy of light. With spicy cardamom and saffron top notes, its heart beats to the floral rhythm of rose syrup and delicate iris. The composition ends with notes of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla and amber.
Cosmic Tonka: another Olaf Larson creation embarks you on a journey to the dark side of the cosmos. A transcendent, sweet, hypnotic, mystical creation. Succulent bergamot enhances a gourmand heart of Tonka beans and ambergris enveloped in intoxicating notes of laudanum, musk and oakmoss.
Stardust Labdanum: Angeline Poubeau’s scent is based on two ingredients: labdanum and rose accentuated by warm, spicy notes like saffron and pink pepper. The sensual base has animal, leather notes that combine sweet vanilla and amber to perfection.
Refractive Frankincense: Julia Rodríguez’s fragrance offers us a mystical aura of colour and magic, brilliant and crisp. It has fresh notes of Italian bergamot mixed with hot incense oil. A spicy pinch of pink pepper and cardamom combines with floral and geranium notes wrapped in a sensual aura of ambergris, cedarwood and musk.

We have been travelling ever since, discovering and absorbing new cultures, raw materials and ways of working. Nomad Experience is the record of our travels: trade fairs, congresses… Places where we can meet and where you can join us on our exciting journey through the world of fragrance. A trip that started last year at the BeautyWorld Middle East 2018 trade fair where we debuted our long-awaited Nomad Tales collection, details of which we shared in an earlier post. Four fragrances based on four raw materials that represent far-flung and imaginary climes. A unique, powerful experience for the senses, worthy of the nomadic legacy we are continuing.

Nomad Box. Treasures of perfumery in a unique box.
Eurofragance has always sought out and used extraordinary raw materials in its creations. According to our CEO, Laurent Mercier, there’s no better way of showing our skills as a company than sharing them. This we have done by creating a beautiful box containing fascinating elements from our perfumer’s palette, a fragrance created with this raw material and a guide to its history, culture and the people responsible for it.
Our first jewel is Shamama. A traditional essential oil originating in the city of Kannauj, in India, for which we have special affection at Eurofragance. And just like Eurofragance’s creations, it is always unique. The creators of this magical combination of raw ingredients have kept the formula a secret, converting this oil into almost a work of art.

Finally, Nomad Saga also includes Nomad Farm. Eurofragance offers creative workshops based on the Nomad Saga theme. Get ready for an interactive journey where you will discover new ingredients, unique applications and trends.
It’s a fact! Smells are intrinsically linked to a culture. It has been proven that tradition, gastronomy, climate, etc. influence the way we perceive and interpret smells. The smell of lavender, typical of Provence, does not have the same connotations for a French person as it does to people from Turkey, who are more accustomed to the piquant smell of spices. At Eurofragance we understand these differences and create fragrances designed to delight different target audiences.
Although our fragrances are found in more than 60 countries, our deep understanding of raw materials and consumer preferences in the Middle East and the Gulf area has made us a leading company in this market.
Oriental perfumery palette
How do the oriental and western palettes differ? Truth be told, there is a growing trend to use exotic raw ingredients in perfumes all over the world. One example of this is the famous sandalwood, which shows up in extremely refined fragrances, adding its characteristic woody, creamy, velvety nuances. With a gently warm, floral side, it is used as an ingredient in fine perfumery and cosmetics around the world.
However, there are some ingredients that appeal far more in the oriental market. One of these is oudh, one of our favourite raw materials, and the star ingredient in our Nomad Tales collection. Also known as black gold by perfumers, oudh is an extremely expensive raw material used only in the perfumery industry. This essence is produced when the Aquilaria trees, known as Agar, become infected by fungus. This ‘natural accident’ occurs when wounds appear in the tree bark, and the tree produces a dense, dark and fragrant resin that, once extracted, has a unique smell: powerful, woody, smoky and animal. This resin has been burnt in the Persian Gulf for hundreds of years as a way of welcoming guests. If you like fresh, fruity and floral fragrances, then oudh is not for you. Nevertheless, it is turning up more and more frequent in the Western World. You may have smelt a perfume that contains oudh, albeit in tiny doses.
We also use spicy scents like saffron and cardamom essential oil to give fragrances a more oriental appeal. And while we are on the subject of combining raw ingredients, we must mention shamama attar -another of the stars of Nomad Tales-, a mixture of wild flowers, aromatic plants, spices and wood, which is distilled in sandalwood. Each producer changes the proportion of the ingredients, which is sometimes a family secret.
At Eurofragance we understand raw ingredients and our expertise in the Gulf area enables us to create fragrances tailored to all segments and products. In other words, we use global resources to meet local needs.
We are looking back over 2018 with a mixture of nostalgia and excitement. It was a magnificent year for us and our stakeholders. We started the year on a high note, when Laurent Mercier took the helm as our new CEO replacing founder partner Santiago Sabatés. Laurent’s vision materialised in strategic movements which, coupled with the efforts of all our Eurofragancers, took us to success after success. Here is a summary of the main milestones:
Expansion and Optimisation
A year has been long enough to achieve a lot at Eurofragance. We have grown and evolved both inside and out. On the one hand, since April, our Barcelona headquarters have had an improved comprehensive fragrance evaluation area. On the other, we have increased and strengthened our presence in America by acquiring Fragrance Design, an Atlanta based company, and optimising our production plant in Mexico. We are particularly proud of these two achievements.
In addition, our R&D department developed an ambitious research and innovation plan which resulted in two very interesting products: Our Eurocaps™ encapsulated fragrances for fabric conditioners have revolutionised the Home Care sector and the first Euro-MC™ Fragrances line is an innovative technology that neutralises unpleasant smells.
Trade fairs and creative projects
Trade fairs were also crucial in 2018. Our Eurofragancers learned, presented and discovered the latest trends at the industry’s leading events: Esxence, Detex, In Cosmetic Global and we’ll never forget the exciting moments we spent at BeautyWorld Middle East! Our perfumers surprised all our visitors at the presentation of our long-awaited Nomad Tales collection. We poured all our creative talent into this project. But wait! The Nomad Tales journey didn’t stop there, because 2019 will bring us even more new things from those fabulous faraway lands. Take note!
And while we’re on the subject of exciting creative projects, we mustn’t forget “És possible”, the fragrance created to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation. Our perfumer, Belén García, created this masterpiece with ingredients that represent the values of the organisation in a souvenir perfume.
